In philly

In philly for work, staying next to city hall. Two part request. Any good cheese steaks around city hall or do i need to head to genos and pats?

also, any decent places around city hall where i can sit at the bar, have a yuengling and eat some good grub?

any help would be great.

Being there on business often and trying out several of the bars and looking for things similar, I would most recommend Sansom Oyster house if your into clams and seafood. They have great tap selection with Yards, FF, Troegs, DFH, River Horse, and Victory. Good stuff.

Also, can never ever go wrong with Monks- thats a given.

Johns Roast Pork down in So. Philly has the best cheesesteak and while you there pick up a roast pork too. Why not? They are off Columbus Ave.....south on Columbus...to right turn on Snyder....to Weccacoe Ave.....right there on corner....looks the pitts but its the best....

There are so many great beers available in Philly, why settle for a Yuengling? If you want local beer, seek out Yards, Troegs, Weyerbacher, Victory or Flying Fish.

Near City Hall, however, I second the Nodding Head for a place to sit at the bar and grab a bit. Another place to do the same is Monk's Cafe - grab some mussels and a Belgian beer.

DiNic's pork is great, but since you specifically asked for a cheesesteak nearby, try Steve's in the Reading Terminal Market. For good bar grub nearby, try Good Dog, Tir Na Nog, Public House, Nodding Head (but you can't get Yuengling there).

Standard Tap is a great bar to go to for food and local beer, but it's in Northern Liberties and not Center City. Worth the trek but if time is tight try Good Dog.

Walk yourself right over to Capital Grill, sit at the bar, have your beer(s), and enjoy a good steak well prepared.

there is no Steve's in the RTM. Rick's is the steak purveyor. Good Dog is a great choice; you are also close to McGillin's on Drury Lane and Moriarty's on Walnut St.(some of the best wings in the city at Moriarty's).

Oops Rick's sorry about that. I get the Princes of Steak confused ;)

Good Dog for the great bar food and Yuengling.
Pat's and Geno's aren't popular on the board. Head to the Reading Terminal Marketing for DiNic's Roast Pork.
