I am hosting a coffee cake and Scotch party (don't ask!) and I am planning on getting some coffee cake from Zabars...anywhere else I should hit for amazing coffee/scotch worthy cake?

I've liked everything else I've tried at Little Pie Co. (especially their sour cream apple walnut pie), so I would wager their sour cream coffee cake is pretty good.

The Scotch will kill (or enhance) the whole coffee cake rapture, but I'll mention that Eli's Russian Coffee Cake is one of the best money can buy. Very very good.

The coffee cake at Doma is pretty excellent. They don't make it there, but I know who does: Jay Plus Dan (www.jayplusdan.com). I'd go for that if I were hosting such a party. And Scotch with coffee cake? Really?

Yes, I agree that Scotch and coffee cake might not be the *best* combination... so what else would you serve with Scotch (its a salon, dessert type night...)?
