Whitemarsh Valley Inn and Sorrento's Italian

Calling on the reliable word of the Chowhound group for some information on these two restaurants. If you've been to these could you provide some info on the food and dining experience?

Sorrento's is on Ridge Pike and Whitemarsh Valley is on Germantown Pike both in Lafayette Hill.

Finally ate at Sorrentos after wondering about it for some time. While not unpleasant...I would have to agree with the 'average'. Pleasant, pinkis, kinda weary looking room. Nice waitstaff..modest portions..definitely has a following though.
Wife and I had baked 'sicilian' style ziti (baked ziti with eggplant) and chicken picatta. Both were nice..not unpleasant..average.

Went here because From The Boot was too crowded..didnt want to wait..next time we'll wait : )

WVI is like dining in a country club grille room. It's the same type of fare, steaks, chops, some seafood, snapper soup, etc. We went there about 2 months ago for a revisit and won't be back for several more years until we forget how average it is.

I have to agree with Chefpaulo. The only time I was at the Whitemarsh Valley Inn it was for lunch and I waited about 30 minutes. I haven't been to Sorrento in years but it was nothing special then and I'm guessing it still isn't. I could be wrong about that, of course. You could do better in this area: From the Boot in LH, Citrus in Chestnut Hill, Cafette in Chestnut Hill and (yes Mitch) Alison at Blue Bell.

I was at Whitemarsh Valley Inn in July for lunch and waited 30 minutes for a sandwich. I asked to see the owner but was told she was in Europe. She needs to stay home more and attend to her back-of-house problems.
