See the other thread about three days in Athens and three days in Istanbul. Quibbling about Istanbul baklava aside, I've covered a batch of the places I liked. Short answers are Çiya Sofrasi in Kadiköy; Doğa Balik in Çihangir; Balikçi Sabahattin in Sultanahmet; less sanguine on Hamdi based on my last trip. Reservations at Doğa Balik will increase your chances of getting a prime table with a nighttime view of Sultanahmet.

I really liked Hamdi Restaurant, which is right over the water. Everything I tried there was awesome, and we had a big family style meal, so I got to try a lot of stuff.
