Specialty stores with sauces you'd never seen anywhere else

You know, those stores that have really rare hot sauces from Mexico, .. or other marinades and jams and spreads, etc. Well, I was thinking of the different varieties of Tabasco .. something like that. Please help. T'is almost Christmas time, and I'm sure we're all trying to maximize our gift-looking time! :)

Anywhere in Mississauga would do, or north like Richmond Hill, Markham, Woodbridge.

  1. Michael Angelo has a pretty decent variety of oils, vinegars, dried pasta, and pasta sauces. It's not too exotic or expensive. Not sure if that's what you are looking for.

    1. Maybe not your area ... but I know here is a specialty store for all kinds of hot sauce on Danforth, near the Globe restaurant.

You are probably referring to "Taste the Fourth Sense" which is just west of Alex Farm Products, near Chester Ave. Here is a review of the place, with contact info: http://www.hotsauceblog.com/hotsaucea...

      2. Hi Everyone, thanks for your help, but pls provide addresses too! Thank u!

        1. I find you need to do specific stores ethnically (sp?) to get the good stuff.

          My favourites:
          Cajun Corner - Creole Cajun
Arz Bakery or Nasr Grocery - Middle Eastern
Perola - Mexican and South American
Indian - BJ International 1449 Gerrard Street East
Asian - T & T or Chinatown East or Spadina

They are scattered all over Toronto so I usually stock up when I'm in the neighbourhood.

            BJ International

            • BJ
1449 Gerrard S East, Toronto, ON, Canada
          2. I havent been to these yet, but thought I'd share so you all could go to them too:

David Roberts Food Outlet (426 Watline Ave, Mississauga) http://www.davidrobertsfood.com/
Gift Pak (5986 Gorvan Dr, also Mississauga) http://www.gift-pak.com/
The two specialize in gift basket items. I reckon companies that build gift baskets go to stores like the 2 above to get their goodies.

Also, I just found out that there's a Wildly Delicious Warehouse Sale (47 Railside Rd, east of DVP on Lawrence) http://www.wildlydelicious.com/wildly...
They specialize in Christmas-y gifts, but I'm not too sure what the warehouse sale is going to have.. worth a visit though. :

            )

If anybody goes, pls report back! I cant go until end of the month.. yes, my schedule's that packed!

I've been to the Wildly Delicious Warehouse sale a few times. It's worth going. Lots of attractive food items, suitable for gifts and baskets and such at good prices.

I can't go anymore for gifts, ha!, because everyone I know has all ready received a Wildly Delicious oil or dipping sauce or marinade or whatever from me.

I've just been to 2 of the above mentioned places yesterday. If you're looking for bulk foods (nuts, chips, candies in a jar), go to David Roberts Food Outlet. They have some deals there .. but some arent, if you compare with supermarkets that have really really good deals (such as almonds, they were selling it for $11/kg, my mom was telling me that food basics or some other supermarket sold it once for $2.99/lb). And both stores (David Roberts and Gift Pak) have Christmas stuff (chocolates, coffees, things to put in gift baskets), but go to Gift Pak for those, it's cheaper there. They would also sell it to you in boxes too, they list the prices of each individual item, or by the box. Lots of selection in terms of brand name chocolates.

              2. Taste the 4th Sense on the Danforth - they also have a store in St. Jacobs.

Also The Instant Caterer in the lower section of St. Lawrence Market.

If you have any sauce questions you can check out www.hotsauceblog.com. I co run it along with Nick and I take care of the Canadian content.

                1. Eat-Sum-More, a little South African store near Promenade Mall has plenty of different sauces, and extremely addictive Biltong (SA beef jerky) as well.
