Avec Pre-show Questions

Jimbeaux Oct 27, 2007 01:47 PM

My wife and I are going to see Wicked Tuesday at 7:30, and I thought we'd try Avec before the show. How much time should we allow? It looks to be about a ten minte walk to the show (at the Ford's Theater).

And do Chowhounders recommend sitting at the bar? We generally like to sit at the bar at open kitchen type places, but every one is different.

And, OT, but what's with all of the lower case restaurant names? There's mk, sola, pingpong, sushi wabi, copperblue, one sixtyblue, rist. we and a bunch of others. Seems like kind of a dopey bandwagon to jump on.

Avec is awesome. Sitting at the bar is great! On a Tuesday evening, you should be okay. I would give it 1 1/2 hours. Take time to enjoy the scene. The wine list is decent.

I ate there with friends last night and really enjoyed the atmosphere, and of course the food. We loved the Medjool dates stuffed with chorizo and wrapped in house cured bacon, foccacia filled with Taleggio cheese, a salmon sashimi/avocado salsa served with lavosh, flank steak with corn and lima beans, grilled chicken with bread and cucumber salad and a nice selection of cheeses to end the meal. The wine selection is nice, apparently they make an effort to seek out smaller vineyards/growers.

Sounds great! I know my mom would really like to try those dates you loved.
Thanks for the info, I'll run it by my aunt and see if she wants to be adventurous!

The walk is probably more like 20 minutes, unless you are quick walkers with long strides and you catch all the lights.

Maybe uppercase letters are more expensive to print?
