Russell Hobbs Electric Kettle

Went shopping for an electric water kettle to replace the Bodum kettle that I would warn people away from. The Bodum 5500 Ibis model was an ideal size and shape ( small footprint and boiled water fast) but was a flawed design: we went through two of them and they just stopped working. Bad wiring/connection - and Sur La Table didn't stand behind them- surprisingly.
The Russell Hobbs 1.7 Liter Electric Kettle promises to be a good replacement. Also boils water fast (1500 watts) and has a reasonable footprint. Has an elegant silouette and is made of a brushed stainless steel. Plus the handle is not near the spout where steam can reach you. And there is some protection form the body of the kettle while you're using the handle.

RH13552 is the model no. - got it at Macy's (SF Bay Area) for $39.95 - have seen it on the net for as low as $33.

My Bodum 5500 kettle has worked like a charm for a few years now and I use almost everyday.

I'm glad to hear that you haven't had to replace yours. went over to Amazon to see how customers fared with it. 72 responses with 4 checks out of 5 ...... so people are happy with it ..... as was I - until it stopped working - with two different units. I didn't read all 72 responses but in the two/three pages that I did read there were two or three other folks who said that theirs just stopped working. In between the folks who loved theirs ........ so who knows?
