Good, fast, cheap eats near Calderwood Pavilion on Tremont

Theater tix on Saturday night. Need something relatively quick. Happy to try something new or adventurous. Ideas? Haven't been to this hood in a while and don't want to do Picco.

You're right in the thick of things on Tremont. I really like Francesca's across the street from the BCA - good, fast sandwiches, soups and baked goods.

Hm. I don't think I would ever call Francesca's fast. Tasty, yes, and personable. But I work in the area and have tried -- and failed -- too many times to grab a swift bite to agree that it's quick. They sure look like they're quick though, don't they?

I'd recommend Garden of Eden (though they irritatingly cut down the size of their sandwich menu) for fairly quick sit down service, especially if you call ahead for a table.

Delux is around the corner on Clarendon, up towards Columbus, and they have a good cheap eats sort of menu.

Gaslight is about a 7-10 minute stoll from the Calderwood, but I'd make a pretheatre reservation in order to be in good stead time-wise.

Pops is right by the Pavilion, and ever since they fixed their exhaust hood issues, I've really liked them as a pre-theatre choice. They're also quite accomodating if you tell them you need to be across the street by 7:30 (or whenever your curtain is).

I walk really fast and think it's a minimum of 10 min to Harrison Ave. from Tremont and Clarendon. Maybe, I *can* tell you it takes 15 min to walk from Tremont 647 to the Roxy. But while i was doing that walk, I noticed a new (to me) place on the same side as Francesca's with a name that began with G. I don't remember it being talked about, take out place, Italian maybe. Did I miss something?

I think you're referring to Georgina's, which replaces a former convenience mart on the corner of Milford & Tremont...Last I saw, it was not yet open..but about to open any day..and it's been a few days since I've had a chance to look. They totally gutted and revamped the place and it looks like it'll be a much nicer "convenience store/market" with the added bonus of offering homemade Greek specialties like salads and gyros. If the food is good, it will be a VERY welcome addition to the neighborhood. However, it looks like it would be a mostly takeout sorta place, where you order your food at the counter. Maybe they will have a table or two where you can sit --not sure about that though.
Re the OP's request, I like the idea of Delux, but you'd have to get there early enough (no later than 6:30ish I'm guessing) if you didn't want to wait.
