4oth birthday dinner in Long Beach

Any suggestions for a memorable dinner spot for a 6 top in the Long Beach area? I know the view at the Sky Room is tough to beat, but what about the food?

You should think about zipping up the 710 to Dal Rae. Really good and fun.

Christy's, Lasher's, Frenchy's all have great food. Lasher's has a little private room in the back that's perfect for a party of 6.

tracht's outside is lovely. we sat an watched the full moon.
        inside--maybe noisy, I dunno.
I would go there in an eye-blink.

Nice, great view. Food is inconsistent and a bit unoriginal but not altogether bad, just nothing smashing.

Best food stick with Frenchy's or Christy's, Cafe Gazelle, Enriques, Trachts.

There is yet to be a great LB restaurant that takes advantage of the views.

I'll concur with wilp. Haven't been to the Sky Room in at least 15 years, but I recall the view and the architecture being more impressive than the food.

i'd forget the Skyroom (food is unmemorable) and try tracht's. good food but i agree about the outside thing with the homeless looking in. long beach needs a really good restaurant so bad...any chef's listening?

I agree about skipping the Sky Room for Tracht's. The food is excellent there. The private room at Lasher's is also fun.

L'Opera is fantastic. Top notch service as well.

Have you heard anything about Tracht's? Some very good reports here about both food and service.

Tracht's is very good for food. Went again last week and everything was still tasty. But if you're looking for a view, it probably isn't the best place. Unless having the occasional homeless person stare at you on the patio is what you're looking for. The inside space is nice though.
