Looking for great restaurant in Hallendale or Hollywood area

My wife and I are coming down and we love to explore and try great local places, does any one have any ideas? We have Reservations at Hollywood prime and would love any feedback and or suggestions Thanks.

  1. We've always enjoyed going to Sugar Reef on the Broadwalk in Hollywood. Great view of the beach/ocean and good food.

      1. Do not agree with Lola's. Went there like three weeks ago excited to try this new restaurant after all the great reviews, but I'm sadly to report that I was very dissapointed.

The service was slow, we ordered bread because the food was taking long - and they did not bring any when we sat down -, so they brought a dry and old bread.

We ordered the half portion of noquis to start, very generous portion and that was the only good plate we had during our dinner. Then I had a hanger steak with blue cheese on top, the steak was hard and flavorless. A friend had the swordfish and he said not to even ask how his food was....

I agree that the menu items looked delicious, but the food we tried we did not like. Maybe we did not order their strong items?

      2. Hollywood Prime has a dark, elegant atmosphere; my husband and I thought our meal here was absolutely delicious. But, it is very typical of a top-rated steakhouse, no real surprises or unique offerings here.

If you try Lola's on Harrison, I'd suggest stopping in first for a glass of wine at the wine bar across the street. The atmosphere is great and the owners are fun and friendly. Not far from Lola's is a Spanish restaurant 'La Barraca'. They have paella and tapas; the food is good, the owners/staff are warm and friendly and will help you in your food selection.

Overall, we've found it difficult to find great food in the Hollywood/Hallandale area; but you wouldn't have to go far outside this area to find a great restaurant.

Last spring we went to Michael's in Hollywood and I know the drinks were amazing, and as I recall we loved the food as well.

Michael's in Hollywood has closed. I read that the owners re-opened in another Miami location.

I read in the paper that Michaels will open in the Newport Hotel in Sunny Isles Beach some time in November.
