We're in NYC tomorrow for the weekend - help!
Had a couple of different postings on this site so far and some great reccos.
We're in the Greatest City In The World tomorrow for a long weekend. Would love to do some off-the beaten path places for fun foods. So come on 'Hounds, what's your guilty pleasure dining in Manhattan? We're not talking bistro or steak house. Fess it up. Could be a street cart or a fast food place. Where do you go to fill that fast/junk food need in your heart? All suggestions are so very welcome.
And yes, we will do our fancy French dinner to repent.

I second the Doughnut Plant. Would also throw in the mix a Katz's pastrami sandwich on a club roll with Russian dressing for a true NY treat. They are located on Houston Street. For some great cookies visit Milk and Cookies on Commerce Street in the West Village. Let the Board know what you try. Have fun.

re: princeofpork
You can say what you like about the kosher part and based on your user name I am guessing that factor doesn't matter to you. As I cannot argue that is not kosher, but neither is Katz's. But I will say this, one can't find Russian dressing like that anywhere else. As for the bread choice, the club roll holds up to the wait of the pastrami, unlike the rye, which crumbles in your hands. So, IMHO a Katz's pastrami on a club roll with their Russian dressing is a NY treat not to be missed. Also, a word of advice if you do hit up Katz's, make sure you tip your counter guy prior to him slicing the meat. It will make all the difference in the amount of meat you get. Like I said before have a great time on your trip here.
