Lovescool new Bakery Amai- Yum!!!

So I have been an avid reader of Lovescool for sometime and was excited to see she was opening a bakery not too far away from where I live.

I ran down there this afternoon to check it out.

First of all, the staff is extremly friendly and the place itself felt cozy and warm on this windy cold day. I was planning to just grab a cup of tea since I have been trying to eat well but then I saw the green tea cupcakes. The frosting is a weird almost electric green color. I had to get one.

I was planning to just have a bite on my walk home and save the rest for later but you know what? It was gone in about 1 minute. It was so good!!! The cake was super soft and fluffy, there was just the right amount of icing and it was smooth rather than sweet tasting. Seriously I may have just found my new favorite cupcake.

Has anyone else tried this place? What is good? How are the teas?

    2. I was excited to have a new tea place in the neighborhood, but although the staff was very friendly and the place is nice and low key, I was not very impressed with the maccha items I had: prize winning maccha cookies and maccha scone with maccha butter. The cookies were nice cookies but the maccha seemed only have lent color and no flavor to them. The scone was not maccha flavoured either but there was something wrong with it in addition. I could not finish it. The tea I had was OK, not great. I hope that these flavour issues will be worked out; in the meantime I will head to Cha-An for my maccha kick...their macaroons are great.

I agree that the owners are very friendly. I sampled the tea cookies and botanical brownies a year ago, when they were only available via mail order and some local shops. Great presentation and loved the concept. I wish the respective flavors were stronger. I tasted lots of butter but would like to see more of the tea flavor.
