MSP - Dinner close to Minnetonka

I'm looking for a place relatively close by Minnetonka (downtown would be too far) that I can buy a belated b-day for my sister and husband. Any cuisine, moderately priced ($40ish/person) - just don't want usual suspects (Cristos, Famous Daves). Many thanks!!! Don't live there so don't know what is really good!

  1. Bacio in the Ridgedale area would be a good choice. You could also go to Wayzata and try Blue Point, a seafood restaurant, Gianni's Steakhouse, Northcoast, or the newest one, The Wayzata Eatery.

    1. I think the best food in Minnetonka is at Origami which is a very good Japanese restaurant. They have top quality sushi, as well as other Japanese specialties as well.

      1. Gusto Cafe & Wine Bar in DT Hopkins is a great little neighborhood spot. You can easily keep the food tab under $40 per person whether you do an array of the small plates or a more traditional salad-entree-dessert.

Qrote, what type of food is Gusto?

I don't think there's any unifying thematic food-type (I believe the folks here might assume it's Eye-talian because of the name, but it ain't). I'd call it a quaint chef-driven neighborhood cafe with a menu that covers all the bases, with the occasional sophisticated twist. The owner/chef has worked at some of the better (or at least better known) restaurnts in town, both in front and back of the house.

        2. Try Prima - they have a restaurant in South Minneapolis/Lyndale and now in Minnetonka off Highway 7. Casual Italian. Nice decor. Full bar. Locally owned.
