Pre-party place for Eagles/Dixie Chicks

I need to find a great place for 8 people to enjoys drinks and appetizers before the Friday night Eagles/Dixie Chicks show at the new Nokia theatre across from Staples Center.

We will be arriving in downtown via limo at about 6:30pm. Showtime is 8:15pm so we will probably have about an hour and a half for drinks and appies.

Any suggestions?

Roys? They look like they have a pretty good bar. And the apps that I've had there were damn good

Ciudad! It's not really walking distance from Staples though, so you'd have to have the limo hang out while you're partying, then drive you to Staples.

I've also had good drinks & apps at The Palm, right across the street from Staples. They have a very good bar area, pretty good amount of space. You can order a great steak off their main menu and slice it for everyone to share. There are also their standard shrimp cocktails, crab cakes, calamari, etc.

I wonder if there are any new places within the LA Live complex? I have yet to go there...

Rooftop at The Standard?

Rooftop looks like just the type of place I am looking for though some of the reviews I read were BRUTAL. Looks like the door staff plays games with people. If we are running late on Friday, the $20 cover starts at 7pm - that would be a tool.

Any other places like Rooftop? Bopping around downtown or being right next to Staples won't be an issue because we will have a driver waiting for us. I had heard about the Beer garden at the New Otani but that closed in September.

I haven't tried it yet, but you may want to do a search on this board for Takami (Takumi?). It's supposed to have a rooftop lounge with killer views (the food has gotten mixed reviews).

I like the crab cakes at The Palm :)
