I dont know if you want or should eat here but I can comment on two styles of beers I have sampled here.

I finally stopped this past time in ordering my ususal "Little White Lie" the white belgian style beer - I liken to champagne. Its incredibly refreshing [quite so this past summer[] and light.

It seems almost too 'foo-foo' now that I have sampled their so called "Biere de Sonoma," Perdition - another Belgian style. It is a medium dark beer, quite smooth, with a slight hoppiness. I think I prefer this now with the weather change.

Does anyone have any other reccomendations?

The Temptation is one of the best beers I have ever had. It might be a bit much if you are just getting into beer as the wild yeast is a bit strong and slightly sour. It is aged in chardonnay casks and is also somewhat oaky.

Pliny the Elder is a great double IPA, one i desperately miss on the east coast.

Pliny the Younger is stronger and different but not neccessarily better.

My personal favorites on the beer list are the Damnation and the Blind Pig (a hoppy IPA which is lower alcohol than the somewhat similar Pliny). Vinnie is constantly experimenting with the Belgian-style sour ales, which are not to my personal taste, but are widely recognized as stellar. You can usually find a few of them on the list at Toronado in the Lower Haight, if Santa Rosa is too far to go to try a beer. :-)

A clarification on my original post: While the Blind Pig is lower in alcohol content than Pliny the Elder, it is by no means a low alcohol beer. I have always wondered if the name came from the way you feel after a few of them. It's "efficient" as well as delicious, and after many, many pints remains one of my favorite beers in the world. I don't think you can get it outside of a bar, but it's almost always available at the Toronado.
