Soursop in New York?

Sweeney856 Oct 23, 2007 04:46 PM

I'm looking for the fruit soursop - preferably in Manhattan, but I'm willing to travel to Queens or Brooklyn. I need it for an ice cream project. Anybody have any suggestions as to where I might be able to get it? I was thinking of some Caribbean groceries in Brooklyn. Anybody know of any specific ones? Thanks.

I've seen guanabana (the same fruit) for sale at Tehuitzingo on 10th Avenue occasionally, but that said, I have not seen it there for a few months at least.

    Good luck.

Try calling Asian Market on Mulberry Street. I know they have soursop juice and I feel like I've seen it there, but I can't be certain.

Thanks so much for your help. I found it canned at the Asian Market.

For ice cream I would go with the frozen purée which is readily available in Latin markets.

I saw them on sidewalk stands in Chinatown yesterday-as well as the West Indian parade!
