Mom lives in La Mirada and Surah is the only place she approves of. i've been there... oh.. 7-8 times over the past 2-3 yrs or so and have never had a bad meal. BBQ, chigae, stewed fish dishes, braised shortribs, nang myun.. etc. have been consistently good. You get a decent array of banchan and better than average atmosphere for a korean place, to boot. Gets quite crowded so reservations are recommended.

Mom, in this case, is a very picky korean mom.

I don't know if it's good, as I haven't been, but there's a newish Korean BBQ joint opened up at the plaza where Taco Nazo's at - corner of La Habra and Beach. Maybe someone who's been can comment?

I normally go to a great one in Rowland Heights called Ong Go Jib at Colima and Nogales. I think it's better than Soot Bull Jeep (they used to have a branch at Diamond Bar a while back).

I agree with Notmartha about Ong Ja Gib.

There is a place on Beach and Malvern called Surah, which is pretty good. Plus as an added bonus they also serve sushi/sashimi albeit the Korean way.

There's a Soot Bull Jeep (I'm an awful speller) on Beach near the 5.

Fantastic All-you-can-Eat Korean BBQ for $10.99 in Stanton called Nel Bom.
In addition to all the fixings, you also get the Tofu soup, Cold Noodle soup, charboiled fish, salad and ice cream. (This is not the buffet time, btw.)
