Macoun apples?

Anyone know where to find them in central/southern NJ? From Trenton down to Philadelphia, that area.

Russo's Farm has Macoun's. The have their own market in Tabernacle, NJ (near Medford) not far from the intersection of Rt 70 and 206. The also have a stand in the Trenton Farmer's Market.

If you trek to Eastmont Orchards in late Oct for Macoun, be prepared to settle for a 2nd choice. EO is a fabulous, busy apple orchard with few Macoun trees and the pickin's go asap. In the mon cty area of NJ, you'll find pre picked Mac's far easier to find. Mac's in NJ are avail (with all weather conditions optimal) 2nd week in September.

Curses! I was just up there this weekend to go to Conte's, which supposedly had Macouns but did not.

Don't know if you are still searching but they have them at Shop Rite. I've never tasted this variety before. Very nice taste and texture.

Delicious Orchards, Middletown is selling Macoun's by the lb or bushel
Known for their mouth watering, fresh produce, prepared foods market and nursery it's worth a trip for apples, pumpkins, holiday menus and their greenhouse is outstanding.

Macoun's is my favorite apple too!

Lee Turkey Farm in East Windsor should still have them available. You have to purchase a picking card for $2 (good for their entire season, so it's better to get it at the beginning of the spring), but if you spend $8 on apples, you get $1 off. Anyway, a 1/2 bushel is $18 ($17 with the $1 off).

Any orchards around there. We went out to Battleview Orchards in Freehold yesterday and got half a bushel for $25. Comes out to .88 a pound. By the way Macouns are my favorite apple. Just found this Terhune's in Princeton http://www.terhuneorchards.com/index....

Terhune's (actually in Lawrence Twp just south of Princeton) grow many varieties and their owners have won titles like "NJ apple farmer of the year." Real experts.

I would NOT advise going there on a weekend, however, as thousands come and the place is a zoo (unless you want to bring kids, in which case it's a fun afternoon).
