Hi there -- we are New Yorkers getting married in Lauderdale-by-the-Sea in March. Can anyone recommend a good caterer (we're thinking maybe steak / salmon menu?) and/or wedding cake bakery? We'll have about 50 people. Thanks!

A friend of mine that swears by We take the cake, for all of her cake needs.

I don't know what your budget is; but Cafe Maxx, a terrific restaurant in Pompano Beach now caters. I'd give them a call. www.cafemaxx.com

I am getting married in a month and I can HIGHLY recommend Todo Dulce for your cake. http://www.tododulces.com. Their cakes are VERY different from anything else you will find in Miami-Ft Lauderdale area. Delicious. Food by Chef Lars will be doing our food...I can report back in a month, but the test dinner was great and they are soooo nice. They have made my life so easy. I knew I wanted to hire them the second I met them, and as a bride who can't handle stress and is not into the drama of the whole thing, I can tell you that is worth a million bucks. Good luck!!!

Oh yomyb, I totally have tears in my eyes reading that. It sounds fabulous. Plus I am hugely psyched (and relieved) because we picked Chef Lars for our March wedding. I got such a good vibe from them, the presentation of the food was terrific and the food itself was just to die for (at the tasting). Thank you so much -- I really appreciate your recco. All best wishes for a long and happy life together!

Great local caterer I call on time and time again, great to work with and local:
          www.thymetofeast.com.

Thyme to Feast doesn't do cakes so check out in Fort Lauderdale:
          www.wetakethecake.com

and in Miami (exquisite and unique and worth it):
          www.anapazcakes.com

Just make sure you taste before ordering if you care about more than just the pretty factor. I have never loved her flavors and I have tried them several times.
