Just Cook This on Discovery Health

EvanWilliams Oct 20, 2007 03:35 PM

Man, this show is good. The guy (Sam the Cooking Guy) over does it a bit with the gestures and "crazyness" but overall, I am digging this show. I think it will only get better once he settles in and finds his groove.

The cooking is pretty basic but still some good ideas. Plus, I dig that he does it out of his house with his dogs and kids every where.

Anybody know the history on this guy?

he's from san diego [but i think he's originally canadian]. he holds small cooking classes in his house, and had a local cable show in s.d. that also aired in a few other cities...i guess it caught the attention of discovery health, and they picked it up but altered the format & put a healthy spin on his cooking now [it sure didn't used to be that way!]

    he has a web site:

and i'm sure if you do a google search you can come up with a lot more info on him [i think i remember reading a profile on him in the san diego union tribune when i lived there - maybe about a year ago].

he is a lot of fun to watch...certainly much more so than the cookie-cutter robo-barbies and drones on tvfn.

plus, as a nutritionist, i appreciate his recipes much more now ;)

I found him somewhat annnoying. And when he whipped up his "fake" brulee made with packaged vanilla pudding..I had to shut it off. I mean..come on!

I made fake brulle with packaged vanilla pudding years ago. Also dropped in strawberry jam at the bottom then bruleed the top. The kids begged for it. It wasn't bad, but not something I'd expect from a cooking show. Wait Sandra Lee.....

I find him way more than "somewhat" annoying! He makes Rachael Ray come across as refreshing as a spring breeze....... YIKES!

I am with you, I am more than annoyed with the style, not something that I can easily watch!
