nice Sat. Lunch in KC

My son is getting married in 2 weeks in Kansas City. I'd like to find a place for about a dozen of us to have lunch on Sat. before the wedding that night. Most folks are staying on the Plaza and a few at Crown Center. The group includes a couple of teens, the rest 50ish.
Can you suggest a place that is quiet enough we can hear ourselves talk? Do any resturants that you know of have a private area for that small a group?

I just wanted to say that we had such a nice lunch at Grand Street Cafe that we went back on Sunday for brunch. It was a hit also. Without your suggestion, I'd have never known about it. Thanks.

I've suggested this before, for a similar request -- Bo Ling's is an excellent local "nice" Chinese restaurant on the Plaza. They do dim sum for brunch on the weekends, so Saturday lunch may be a little crazy, but they do have a side area with a few big (12-top) tables. They will do single plates or family style, at your request. And their menu is varied enough to accomodate a range of tastes and foodiness.

Nicer places on the Plaza with space:
Grand Street Cafe
Brio- Upstairs
McCormick & Schmicks- I'm sure they could give you an area
M & S Grill
Capital Grille- back room

Crossroads/Downtown:
Lidia's
Jack Stack BBQ
City Tavern
12B /Phillips Chophouse

You might have to double check, but those are the nicer places I could think of that have private spaces and probably do lunch on Saturdays.

Grand Street Cafe has a lovely spot for a private lunch/dinner/party. When I was checking it out for my girl's weekend (which fell through by the way) - the assistant manager (Aaron, I think?) couldn't have been nicer or more accomodating.

I believe my husband's X-mas party is going to be there this year (in the bigger room) - of course that doesn't help you out now. Until then - I can only comment on how pleasant the staff was in with my cursory planning.

Don't forget about Starker's Reserve either- didn't we decide they had several private rooms now? I would think that would make a nice Saturday lunch, and I think there would be something for everyone there.

M and S Grill does private seating for a group that small, I believe. It's on the Plaza.
