Library Alehouse or Joe's Main St Diner?
Two friends and I will be going to dinner Saturday night and it’s between Library Alehouse and Joe’s Main Street Diner (which happen to be right next to each other!). I like the look of Joe’s menu prices and variety but does the food measure up? We also don’t want to yell over each other (Not sure if Library Alehouse gets really loud?) Any help would be great, thanks!
Both are good. the alehouse has a nice back patio which s quieter than the bar.. Even though I love Library, I think I might tell you to pick Joe's.
But both are good!
They are very different. Library Alehouse is more of a restaurant/bar, Joe's is a real diner like Cafe 50s or Swingers with equally bland food. And Joe's is BRIGHT, in that zero-ambience flourescent way.
The outdoor section at Library is so dark you can't even read the menu. Maybe they don't want you seeing those Belgian beer prices.
My meals at Joe's Diner have been a disappointment. I was expecting good diner food and walked away unsatisfied. Library Alehouse can be crowded, but the food is decent and the beer selection is very good. We're talking about decent bar food.
These are both on my list of go-to places since I live near by but they are very different. The Ale House is a scene and hangout in addition to a restaurant and Joe's is a diner where people just go to eat. The food at the Ale House is defnitely better, but also pricier. I do like that the Ale House is comitted to green practices and also gets some of their produce from the Santa Monica Farmers' Markets. It can also get extremely crowded and sometimes pretty noisy. Inside is definitely a bar scene at night. The back patio is nice. The food at Joe's is nothing special, but not bad at all. It is defnitely a diner atmosphere and I think it is a little overpriced for what it is. Joe's also serves breakfast all day and people love their omlettes.
