Looking for recommendations on good Indian Restaurants, preferably with the option of dinner buffet. Anywhere in the GTA or surrounding areas. Thank you!

  1. Gerrard East. Search on this board for Little India, or just head to Siddhartha at Gerrard/Ashdale.

Just wanted to note that while Siddhartha's quality dropped for awhile earlier this year, they seem to be back on track. The last two times I got takeout from them were very good again - back to their previous levels. I highly recommend you do a la carte there; the buffet is decent, but their actual dishes are much better.

the siddartha on king and bathurst is also good. as vorpal said, a la carte is better than their (pretty good for what it is) buffet.

    2. What is this, the fifth time I've made this rec on CH? No matter.. Moti Mahal at Coxwell/Gerrard. My favourite Indian. No buffet, sorry.

While it's very good, be warned that Moti Mahal is a fast food place, you order and pay at the counter and they call you to get it when it's ready. Also some things like lamb kebab I see them microwaving it right at the counter, so it's not in quite the same league as other restaurants.

      2. We love Khana Kajana on Bathurst just north of Steeles. Their use of spices is outstanding. This restaurant has become one of our favorites. The service is very friendly and we have been made to feel very welcome there.

I'm also a Moti Mahal fan. It's been my main Indian place in the city since '85.
Very consistent. Default meal is the veg thali, but they do a great butter chicken.

        2. Thanks to those that replied to my post. I ended up going to a restaurant called Trimurti on 265 Queen St W. The restaurant is small, but packed up quickly after 7:30pm. The service was friendly and quick. Among the things we ordered, I enjoyed the Mixed Platter (A delicious combination of chicken pakoras, samosas, vegetable pakoras & chicken tikkas) and Murgh Biryani (Chicken Rice) (Basmati rice garnished with fried onions cooked with chicken, nuts & raisins). It looks like they have lunch buffet, but dinner is menu only.
