offal anywhere btween Union Station and LoC??

In follow-up to a previous message, I am coming to DC for a night and looking for a place that has sweetbreads, tongue, or tripe (but I am not a fan of liver or kidney or brains). Last time I was in town I went to Jaleo and did a combo of tripe, blood sausage, and sweetbreads dishes. I'd love something similar this time around. I'll go back to Jaleo if need be (although their current on-line menu doesn't list any of these) but if there are other ideas, please let me know. I will be coming in by train, staying over somewhere between Union Station and the Library of Congress. So it's one meal and should be in walking distance between Union Station and the Library (where I have a meeting the next morning before going back out by train). I really don't like taking cabs so I want to stay in the area I've outlined.

  1. That's not a restaurant-rich area, but you have Bistro Bis near Union Station and Montmartre near Eastern Market (not far from the Library of Congress), and with the French there's always a chance of sweetbreads or maybe tripe.

Too bad you don't like liver -- it's on the menu at the Monocle near Union Station.

I suppose it's possible the Dubliner, also near Union Station, offers some sort of Irish black-pudding sort of blood sausage.

    1. Belga Cafe on 8th (Barracks row) is in walking distance and has sweetbreads on the menu. They're pretty good.

The Belga Cafe news would make me very happy, but I don't see them in the online menu. Is it outdated?
