Wedding Reception Location for 50?

I'm planning a laid back wedding and am considering having a reception in a private room in a local restaurant/ lounge. I would like it to have a modern, cool atmosphere and decor and have decent food. I am thinking a budget of about 4500-5000 including alcohol, tax and gratuity. I would prefer a sat or fri evening but would consider other days of the week for the right place.

For example, I really like the look of Simon LA and the Stone Rose Lounge in the Sofitel hotel although I have heard mixed reviews about the food. Good music would be a plus so I might consider the right club or bar as well.

Also, I would like it to not be too run-of-the-mill ( Cheesecake Factory)

  1. So far, I think Firefly, Il Cielo, Roys-Downtown and possibly The Edison might work. I don't know too much about these venues and any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
