20 year old Moulinex died - now what?
I know it owed me nothing, but I'm stumped. It had a food processor with blades & disk, blender, mini-grinder, citrus juicer, and most irreplaceable, an attachment with small, medium and large holes that worked like an electric food mill. Perfect for mashed potatoes, soups, applesauce (no peeling or coring required), tomato sauce (no peeling or seeding). I think it was called the Kitchen Machine or something similar.
I can probably do better with a separate blender and food processor. I have a citrus juicer and 3 coffee grinders (for coffee, spices and flax seed). I just don't know how to replace the Kitchen Machine part. Old fashioned food mill? One of those red tomato strainers? I have a KitchenAid stand mixer - one of the attachments maybe?
I'd also appreciate recommendations for food processors. I use it for workhorse chopping, slicing & grating. I like to do bread & pastry by hand. There's the mandoline for pretty slices.
Kitchenaid does have a meatgrinder with a sausage stuffing attachment available, though that doesn't seem to be on your list. There is a food strainer attachment that works similarly to a food mill- As I remember, it worked pretty well, but I haven't pulled it out in many years- I'm pretty fond of my manual food mill. Another thread recently has made it apparent that there are some pretty poor food mills out there- mine is an old, 3 disk Foley and works great; I'm kind of glad I'm not looking for a good one now.
I have a kitchenaid mixer too, and I think (don't quote me on this) that there is a grinder thing that attaches to the front that is supposed to make like hamburger or something....I can't find my user manual to look and see for sure, but if you have your manual, you can look it up. I'm sure that it would grind or "mill" more than just meat if you wanted it to. Wish I could be more helpful.
I found several Moulinex items that possibly fit the description of your machine & they are priced very low. Check it out.
Otherwise, Kitchen Aid makes a really great food processor.
If it were me, I would buy your replacement on ebay - exactly what you had.
I am still using my 20 yr old FP and do not relish the day it dies.
