Tia Pol for B-day Dinner?

Its my boyfriend's B-day on Monday, and I was thinking about taking him to Tia Pol because I've heard they have great tapas and wine. However, I've also heard that the place can be cramped and the service slow. Is there any chance that we can eat here on a Monday night (around 8:30) and have a relaxed, leisurely meal?

Does anyone have a sense of what kind of wait a party of two might have around 8:30 on a Sunday night at Tia Pol? Also, I'd welcome ideas for a plan B restaurant within walking distance if the wait is too long.

You may have to wait 20-30 minutes. Red Cat is nearby, but I'd wait at Half King down the block and have a cocktail first. Tial Pol is worth the wait. If it's on the menu (and you eat pork), try the suckling pig There's also Boqueria, which has great tapas and wine.

It's delicious. My B-day is in 2 days and I couldn't think of a better gift. : )

If it's just the two of you, you shouldn't have a problem. You may have to wait by the bar (getting seats is hard there too) but on a Monday it won't be too bad. The earlier the better. I've never had problems with service. It's a great place. Have fun.
