Bueno Queso Social Club

I read an article in the Globe about this group. It is run by Robert Aguilera, general manager at Formaggio Kitchen. The group meets once a month at Middlesex Lounge and mainly pairs cheese, wine, and beer. Sounds interesting. Anyone been? Do you think it would be a good place for a somewhat novice?
Thanks.

I went to the Bueno Queso Social club this past Sunday and was quite pleased with it. I am definitely a novice when it comes to wine and its pairing with food. It was a very enlightening experience that I imagine would be really good for anyone of any level that has an interest in food or wine. There was a nearly constant stream of knowledge being present to us by the people running the meal. I could hardly claim to have absorbed all of it, but I am amazed at the amount I did learn. I'm not even going to try going into it all. It may have just been the table I was at (I believe a fellow chow hound was there), but I also had a whole lot of fun.

Just want to bump this up. These classes are still occurring on an almost monthly basis, and I cannot vouch for them enough. $40, copious wine, tastes, and information, and a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. Perfect for novices, experts, and novices who erroneously regard themselves as experts.

I've never been myself but have friends who have gone. They've all enjoyed it and said it is well done. Sadly with the limited date offerings, I've always had a conflict!

I talked to Robert about this a while ago ... I've attended the Sunday cheese classes at the Huron Ave. Formaggio and they're really fun, if a little cramped feeling in their little space. They pick a theme (goat's cheese, cheese and beer, blue) and discuss various attributes of the cheese, pairing suggestions, etc. I've really enjoyed them and have learned a lot.

Robert told me they had moved some classes to Middlesex to have more room and more opportunity for folks to mingle. I think it would be GREAT for a novice. Please let us know how it is if you check it out.

I imagine the presence of a Formaggio guy means it will be informative and fun. I can't think of a better way for a novice to learn about cheese than eating cheese, especially with well-chosen wine and beer to go with it. I've taken cheese classes at Formaggio, and think they are well worth it, too.
