Tons... the best bet right now is SPQR (on Fillmore) but you have to be there right when they open at 5:30 as they don't take reservations and they fill up quickly.

If you don't want to be rushed and have a crowd scene to shout over, walk up another block to Vivande for the best fettuccine in the city.

Also on Fillmore is Toraya for sushi. If you'd rather stay in Japantown, Ino and Fuku are the best sushi restaurants in JTown (both in the mall - at opposite ends).

I haven't been in a while but had a fantastic steak at Florio a few year's ago...right on Fillmore, a few doors up from SPQR.

Downhill alert on Florio... ate there about six weeks ago and the steak was full of grizzle and the chicken missing that *spark* of specialness one expects with a roast chicken.

Also, though, is Elite Cafe which continues to shine with haute-Southern cuisine.

If you run out of time, there is a small cafe inside the Fillmore. I think I ate a burrito of some sort there once and I'm alive to tell the tale.

Have a few beers first then attack the burrito at the Filmore.

It will be nice once that new place opens just two blocks down, called 1300 on Filmore they will be doing soulful American cuisine, I heard this from the people doing the interiors.. nice to see the area shaping up with more food options. I also think the area needs to keep it real too.
But Carrie 218 is spot on if you want good upstanding food, not the burrito.

I had to google parrothead. I believe I have seen the place you are talking about, sorry that I don't know anything. I have Brazilian friends I should inquire.

The Brazilian place isn't really Brazilian, per se. It is Mozzarella di Buffula Pizzeria which happens to be owned by Brazilians so there are a handful of said dishes on the menu. Actually, from my BF who used to live in Brazil, he says their Fejoida is a 6 on a 10-point scale and we order it to go quite often. The "atmosphere" is not the best for fine dining (I've only eaten inside once), but it is a great place to remember for delivery - especially for the Fejoida.
