Can anyone comment on One Market? Thinking of taking a date there for lunch tomorrow. Any other ideas in the same area (near Embarcadero BART)?

I was there for dinner once several years ago. The food wasn't bad, but it also didn't really stand out. For the price, I expected better. I would go for Boulevard instead.

As another poster noted, I would go to Boulevard instead. The food at One Market doesn't merit the prices.

While I'll gladly fourth Boulevard over anything in the area, I ate at One Market a month or so ago and was fairly impressed given my low expectations.

My wife and I shared some oysters to start that were excellent.

We followed that with a crab chowder that was really tasty. They brought a bowl with the potatoes, bacon, crab, etc. in a tight stack for presentation and a seperate pitcher with the soup and poured in at the table.

For our main we did the ribeye for two. This was one of the best pieces of meat we've had in quite some time. The accompanying spinach and cipoline onions were very good as well.

Service was very good and our waiter was quite amicable.

Another vote for Boulevard here. They're on Open Table and I was able to get a lunch spot there on relatively short notice last December while out visiting friends.

My husband was at One Market just last week when he couldn't get into the Slanted Door and wasn't overly impressed, although he said it wasn't bad.

Another idea would be to walk around and sample smaller items from multiple places in the Ferry Building (Hog Island Oyster Co, Cowgirl Creamery, Tsar Nicolai, Miette, etc.).
