Summerville, SC favorites?

Hi, DH and I are going to be in Summerville, SC (Charleston vicinity) from 10/22 to around the 26th. We will have a car, and are always willing to travel for great chow. What are your favorites for all meals? A good wine selection is always appreciated. Thanks for all replies.

  1. Woodlands is 5 Star.
Oskars for good simple meat and three.
    Red Pepper for Italian.

    1. The Mustard Seed is consistently good. The Continental Corner has great Greek food.

      1. Woodlands is excellent (agree with CharlestonChow) and appropriately expensive. Mustard Seed is an excellent choice also (agree with Charlestonfoodiegal) and quite reasonably priced. Otherwise, I think you may want to travel a little. What are your food preferences? Recommendations are easier when that is known.

        1. Woodlands in Summerville ( ) is in my estimation perhaps the best restaurant I've experienced in this country (it's a touch call between Woodlands, Manresa (Los Gatos, CA), and French Laundry (Yountville, CA)). There's a reason it's one of only 14 Mobil Five-Star Restaurants in the entire country. Apart from that, travel into Charleston and try FIG, Peninsula Grill, Charleston Grill, High Cotton, Cypress, or Al di La (West Ashley).

If you want a simple but good down-home country Southern style place, Sweetwater Grill in Summerville is a fine choice for that.

TIP: If you want to experience the awesomeness of Woodlands on a tighter budget, go for lunch. It won't break the bank at all. In case it's still in season, ask if they still have those non-alcoholic fruit cocktails to go with the meal. Sublime.
