Best Brooklyn area for eating and shopping?

rednyellow Oct 16, 2007 04:00 PM

I will be staying for an extended period in Brooklyn and would like to know where are the best places to eat and buy groceries. Good food and markets like a Whole Foods, Balduccis etc. Tanks Doilinks.

We just had this debate not so long ago:

FWIW, given your preference for markets like Whole Foods and Balducci's, I think your choices come down to Cobble Hill/Carroll Gardens and Park Slope. There are upscale food markets in DUMBO now, but not worth it.

DUMBO is an acronym that means Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass, which should give you a pretty good idea of where it is. If you haven't been there, it's definitely worth a visit, if only to check out the unique architecture and some of the shops.
