Henry's in Beverly

I was in Henry's today and was overwhelmed with the choices of prepared foods, desserts, meats, soups. Everything looked so appetizing. What have folks bought from there and what would you recommend? I like most foods and love dessert, especially whoopie pies which they had there.

I love the cucumber dill salad, the veronique chicken salad (with grapes and almonds), the sliced gorganzola beef, and their soups are always very good. You may also want to check out the prepared foods section at McKinnons in Danvers; they have really expanded their offereing and they're a bit less expensive than Henry's.

When we splurge, its on the tuscan, blue cheese or other specialty burgers on the meat case. the chicken pot pies too....great on a cold fall night when all you want to do is pop on the oven and watch the ballgame.

I think they make a very good chicken salad (light on the mayo). They are known for their chopped ham, but I have never tried it.

My favorites from Henry's are the chicken pies, beef stew, and corn chowder. I hav'nt tried the entrees, but did go to a party catered by them and everything was delicious.
