Moncton, NB

My elderly Mum and I are heading to Moncton in early/ mid-November for a getaway. We're interested in good places to eat (pub type food seafood) and some interesting shops as well. She walks with a cane so mobility is a bit of an issue.
This is our second trip to the area (we love it!) and would like to hear some recs. from more experienced folks.
Thanks in advance!

I haven't been, but the following restaurant made the "Top 10" list of the best new restuarants in Canada as prepared by enRoute Magazine (http://www.enroutemag.com/e/november0...). In neighbouring Dieppe, perhaps it's worth a try, but I warn you, it's likely to be a whole lot more flashy and expensive than your average pub:

      08. RESTAURANT L'IDYLLE

1788, rue Amirault, Dieppe, New Brunswick, 506-860-6641, restaurantidylle.com

The oldest house (built in 1828) in Dieppe is serving some very modern food. Chef Emmanuel Charretier is the one-man kitchen brigade in this family operation, where wife Hélène Legras runs the front of the house and her father hand-painted each plate. No wonder the restaurant feels so welcoming.

The setting may be quaint, but there’s a playfulness to the meal. Translucent sheets of lobster sashimi marinated in olive oil and balsamic resemble a psychedelic light show with the addition of green tea powder and fresh herbs. Sticky squab breast rests alongside a leg stuffed with foie gras, joined by braised cabbage. The confit of figs and vanilla ice cream with gingerbread crumbs was among the year’s best desserts.

I got some recommendations from my niece, a local. She says that Pisces by Gaston (aka Gaston's; http://pisces.ipromote.ca/splash.asp) on Main Street specializes in seafood, but to try The Pump House (aka The Brewpub http://www.pumphousebrewery.ca/) on Orange Street, where she likes the pulled pork sandwich and the pizzas.

Sorry you're not getting more response, and I hope you have a great trip.

I have to say that I was NOT impressed with The Pump House. The food was medicore, and the service was terrible.

My husband and I love Little Louis Oyster bar and restaurant. Excellent food but the restaurant is a little expensive. It is on th esecond floor but is accessible by elevator.
