Peppers, Pacific Grove

We will be in Carmel in a couple of weeks. I did a Peppers search, but didn't find much that was current. Anyone have any thoughts pro or con?

  1. In my view, Peppers is a place that people who don't normally eat Mexican food go. If you're in that camp, you'll like it.

On the other hand, if you like "hole in the wall" Mexican joints, you won't like Peppers.

A fair judgment, in my mind. It's been a long time since I've been there, to be honest, but there's a reason for that. While I have had an interesting seafood dish on occasion, it is not really Mexican food nor in my mind consistently good.

    2. I lived on the Monterey Peninsula for 9 years and LOVE Peppers. But if you are staying in Carmel there are so many options you don't need to make the trip over to Pacific Grove.

We love the drive to PG and plan on going to Peppers. There are not many Mexican options in Carmel. As Ed & Harry said, the down and "dirty" ones may have better food, but we enjoy a Margarita...or two also. I'll report back.
