Birmingham, AL - Doodles Cajun?

Dax Oct 15, 2007 04:22 PM

Anyone tried this place? The website is almost enough to keep me from going, but if the Cajun offerings are good it might satisfy a craving until the next Jazzfest.

I ate at Doodles many years ago when they were located by LaCocina. They had terrific mufflettas!!! Red beans & rice were so-so.

Before they moved, I loved Doodle's. They use Gambino bread for their po boys. Great stuff. Alas, they moved too far away into an area I rarely stray.

Went for lunch and had the 1/2 muffletta and two side combo plate for $8.50. First, the half is a large sandwich itself and therefore I have a quater left for dinner. For the two sides, I went with the crawfish etouffee was good but not great. I liked the jambalaya ok but prefer more andouille but that's because it's probably my favorite sausage. All in all, pretty darn good but not great, still a great value.
