Drinks near Beck?
My husband and I are having dinner tomorrow night at Brasserie Beck and want to get drinks beforehand. We very often end up at PS7, Zola, etc., because of proximity to my office, so want to branch out a bit. Can anyone recommend a great place to get a drink near 11th and K? Right now, I'm thinking Corduroy. Any other ideas? Many thanks!

What time is your reservation? Depending on that I would say go to Beck early and grab a drink at their bar. They have a decent wine list and an externsive beer list, as well as a bunch of cocktails. The only thing is that the bar can get packed.

Agree with Kim. Beck's is a great place for drinks. I work two blocks from there and it is a regular happy hour spot. The bar can be very crowded, but on a Tuesday should not be too crazy.
If you want a different venue . . .
Bobby Van's Grille two blocks away at 12th and New York. It has a more traditional atmosphere in contrast to your more trendy Zola, PS7 places, but they have friendly bartenders and it is much closer to Beck's.
Also DC Coast (14th and K) is not a bad place for drinks. Great wine list and good atmosphere, especially if you score the couches or cozy chairs in the front of the bar.
I love the food at Corduroy, but the bar is usually pretty dead during the week and it really offers little in the way of atmosphere.

How about Proof? or the bar at Zaytinya?

I would, but we'll probably end up there after dinner, and since this is a special occasion, we'd like to spice it up a little. DC Coast and Bobby Van's are two I hadn't thought of. That's a good start. Thanks guys!

Yeah I wouldn't go to the bar at Corduroy.... Just not the atmosphere you probably want. More like hotel bar, and not good hotel bar.

The advantage of the bar at Corduroy is they always have the greatest bartenders, and the happy hour drink and food specials are incomparable (things like raw oysters, soups, spring rolls, etc. at HALF menu price, and $3 Hook and Ladder beers). But it is definitely a sedate hotel bar.

How about the lounge at LIMA. Or the bar at DC Coast? Both are nearby and have pretty cool atmosphere's for drinks.
