Where to buy fresh duck livers in LA?

I saw on the San Francisco boards that there is a good market up north, but I don't know where to get them here.

    I swear I've seen duck liver at the poultry shop in the 3rd Street Farmer's Market, along with the chicken liver and gizzards.

      Thanks, I just called there after getting your reply and he doesn't have them, thinks maybe China Town is the only place.

      Still wondering if anyone else has spied them?

      Has anyone seen them in the Russian markets, or Chinatown? If so, do you remember where?

        If you're talking about foie gras, it's not totally common... especially Grade A. I have seen lower grades at some places, but would not really recommend. A friend of mine has some direct wholesale/producer contacts, but outside of that I usually get my whole fresh foie from Sonoma or Hudson Valley Foie Gras. Lately I've preferred the Hudson Valley product... felt like fewer veins. They almost always get me the stuff the following day with overnight shipment, and have all kinds of other duck based goodies available.... really good duck fat, smoked magret breasts, etc...

          I buy duck livers to make pate. It has been a couple years though since the last time. I remember calling all over town in search of them and asking every local chef I knew for advice. My only success was in Chinatown and I checked several places there before getting lucky. I haven't tried recently but I can't remember the name of the one place that had them but I can describe it. Their very recognizable distinguishing quality is a large 3-dimensional chicken sign out front. Because this place has living poultry on the premises, their products are alarmingly fresh. If you want your livers from here, be prepared for what's necessary to fulfill your order. Mine took a few minutes to "arrange" and when the clerk came back with the bag of livers they were still warm -and not because they weren't being refrigerated if you catch my drift. I can't say for sure if they're still open but I hope so, I'm getting in the mood to make pate again.

            I just called the 3rd Street Farmers Market, and they have them there, Grade A and B!! And duck breasts - here's the scoop:
