Are there Dog-Friendly restaurants in San Diego?

Just wondered if there are any restaurants around that welcome you and your dog?

Is it a county ordinance that they aren't allowed to even sit on the restaurants with patios?

We have taken our dog to about 4 places, so I dont think there is an ordinance about no dogs where food is served.

We've eaten brunch @ Cafe 222 w/ our dog, as well as gotten pizza in Coronado (I forget the name of the place).

Cosmos coffee shop allows dogs on their patio (and has a water bowl and dog treats outside). Caffe Calabria allows dogs at the outside tables as well.

OB is generally very dog-friendly and you can usually bring your pooch onto patios there.

PB has lots of places that let you tie up your dog and they put out water bowls for them - don't know of any that allow them inside tho.

Wine Steals in Hillcrest has a dog-friendly patio and there is usually a dog or two out there.

Hamiltons in South Park will let you bring dogs inside - no food there though.

Americana and Pacifica Breeze Cafe in Del Mar are dog-friendly. I saw the staff at Americana get a water dish for a dog once.

I think it depends on whether you have to enter the restaurant to get to the patio. In the past I have taken my dog to Parkhouse Eatery, Bread and Cie, and the Cottage in La Jolla, but it's been a while. He's gotten a bit grumpy in his old age and can't be trusted to be polite company anymore!

LisaSD: There are some great places to take your pooch in North County. In addition to the Del Mar recommendations below (both good spots), check out Pipes Cafe in Cardiff, Pizza Port in either Solana Beach or Carlsbad, and there are quite a few others as well, but my I'm having trouble recalling them at the moment. In fact, I recently read somewhere, that SD is considered the most dog-friendly town in America. Having lived a few other places, I can personally attest to the city's progressive attitude towards dogs in public. In fact, the first time I ever saw a dog at a restaurant occurred during an apartment hunting trip, prior to moving here -- I though it was quite the brilliant sight!

            Best of luck!

I would suggest Pacific Coast Grill in Solana Beach. The food is decent (nothing spectacular) but for $5 they will bring your pooch a giant burger (no bun), turkey burger or chicken and rice served up in a dog bowl. My dog starts salivating when we get to the parking lot.

Yep, if you check out the "indulge outside" section you can click to see the dog menu:

                    www.pacificcoastgrill.com/

I have only seen maybe one or two other dogs when I have gone, which is probably a good thing so that they don't start fighting over the dog burgers.

Add Cafe Chloe. There's almost always a canine contingent on the patio, and they also have a community water bowl.

We used to have brunch at Terra with our pups. They'll seat you on the patio and bring a bowl of water for your dog. Last time we were there, they also had a "menu" of doggy treats you could buy. On a sunny day, the patio is definitely the "dog section"... I even like to sit out there if we don't have our dogs, just to look at everyone else's!

I have met a friend at Harry's in La Jolla for breakfast.

In the past I have dined outside at the Cajun Stlye resteraunt on Park Blvd, between Washington and University. We have tied our dog to the table.

That would be Gulf Coast Grill...good food there! My problem would be drinking too much champagne and forgetting about the dog.
