Black Jewell back at Major Market

I might be the only one who cares about this, but after being out of stock for months, Major Market (Escondido) once again has bags of this wonderful popcorn. A jar is now at least $8 at Williams Sonoma; a larger bag is $2.99 at Major. I bought two bags the other day, and the shelf supply was already getting low, so stock up now!

What do you like about this particular brand, Maestra? I guess I'll have to try it!

Well, if you've only ever had yellow or white popcorn, this stuff will be a revelation. Black Jewell is nuttier and more complex, and some kernels have a distinctly "wild" flavor to them. The flavor is strong enough that you won't want to add anything but butter and salt. There are lots of great popcorns out there, but Black Jewell is the one that's consistantly available.
Be warned: One relative tasted it and declared it too tough to eat, and I can see her point. It can be chewier, and thus possibly not appropriate for people with dental issues.
