I found Achiote seeds (if that's what you mean) at the Lion supermarket on Tully & King. In a small clear plastic bag, the same aisle as the other Asian spices. But I don't think the word achiote is on the bag; it had the vietnamese word for achiote, which is "Hot Dieu Mau". I remember seeing some of the staff at Lion market are Latino/a, so you can ask for achiote and they might point you to the right spot.
Or there's Tropicana on Story & King, a large mexican/hispanic grocery store, which probably would have it.

They can also be found at Indian markets like the one on University (close to the fwy but I forget the cross street) in Berkeley

Any filipino or asian market will usually carry this. sorry, don't know any specific names of markets in SB.

Yes, stocked under "Filipino" items in Asian groceries, you can find it in the "Mama Sita's" package, already ground up. I don't know if this is not as good as in un-ground form, but it's definitely convenient.

Hey Zandra,
Try this website. I think if you buy in bulk, its probably cheaper and may last longer depending on how often you use the achote seeds 'aka' annato seeds. I just ordered some myself. Hope this helps!
