Frozen ,bagged Italian dinners? [Moved from Home Cooking board]

I seem to keep seeing more of these,by Bertoli, and others, are they worth a try for a quick easy, decent meal?

Eww, don't bother (at least the flavor I bought). I bought the shrimp, asparagus, cherry tomato one because it was lower in fat/calories than the others. The shrimp remained cold, the tomatoes tasted like metal, and the sauce was too saucy. In the time it would take to make everything warm, you could make the exact same thing from scratch.

Only tried a couple, but the Shrimp Diavolo really isn't bad, they cook quickly, add some decent bread and a small salad and you are set to go. What I do like about them is the portions aren't huge. Have to admit, I did not check the calorie count, but if you are like me, the more that it in the pan, the more I tend to eat, so it probably balances out.

It is so easy and fast to make pasta with some sauce...why buy that crap? My in-laws tried some Bertoli (penne) and said it was horrid.

Apparently not. Keckler of televisionwithoutpity reviewed them (hilariously) here: http://www.televisionwithoutpity.com/... Her opinion can be taken seriously because she is also a chowhound. Never tried the stuff myself though.
