SPECIAL NIGHT FOR HUBBY'S BIRTHDAY

we are considering, david burke and Donatella, Del Posto or Alto. We have been to david burke and Donatella and Del Posto. We love the food and ambience at both restaurants. We also like to dress up for dinner. Is it worth trying Alto or should we dine there at another time?

Thanks in advance

I feel as if I'm a "pusher" for this place - but did you see my review of Alto? It is a "dressed up" crowd, and we had a wonderful meal that I would be happy to be taken to for my birthday! Haven't yet tried the other plces you mention, so can't comment.

I don't know if it's required, but I would've felt out of place without my jacket at Alto when I've eaten there. The food does not have the whimsy of db&d or the gut-busting quality of Del Posto, but it does stand on its own as a very quality restaurant. I find it a lot more "old-school" than either of the two previous restaurants, which might mean a toned down sort of celebration, but once you taste the spaetzle, you will find a lot to celebrate.

I agree with you about David Burke & Donatella. If you liked it so much,
I might also suggest Gramercy Bar & Grill.

Yes, Gramercy Park is very good as well. My husband is leaning towards Burke and Donatella. Thanks for all your suggestions.
