I've had a lot of fond memories there with mardi gras celebrations to eating their yummy fried chicken. Apparently, their last night is Oct 20th. I'm so sad they're leaving!

This place never got the respect or traffic it deserved. Cajun/Creole doesn't do that well in Manhattan, it seems. And the fried chicken, though no match for the original in New Orleans, was excellent. Supposedly the ownership will be reopening with a similar menu under a different name in Long Island City. I wish them luck - they will need it.

I have it on good authority that Jacques-Imo's will not be opening anywhere in NY in the foreseeable future. Maybe some folks who worked in the restaurant may open a place, but the owners won't be involved.

I haven't had their fried chicken there, but I've been pretty disappointed the three times I've been there. Didn't even come close to the one in New Orleans. When Jacques found out that I've been to the one in New Orleans, he actually apologized for the food.

Exactly. It's a poor imitation of a mediosre N.O. restaurant. I'm actually glad it's going. I just hope the space doesn't become a bank or a Duane Read, because Jacques-Imo's sucks, but it's better than another bank or Duane Read.
