evening Oct 11, 2007 11:40 AM

Has anyone seen these in NYC? anywhere???? I've checked Dean & DeLuca, Balduccis, Gourmet Garage, Marie Belle, Kee...

came back from Paris with serious addiction, and I can only find the caramel in a jar at D&D. Any ideas????

Are these salted caramels - as in candy? I know I've bought from D&D in the past, though I know you've checked there. You might also want to try Eli's.

Yes candy. The "expert" at the Dean & Deluca candy counter told me to try a drug store or Hallmark! Clearly she doesnt know what they are... Thanks for the Eli's suggestion. I also thought of Dylan's, but havent made it over yet...

That is so pathetic. Which Dean & Deluca? I bought them at the Madison Avenue location.

This is what they looked like:

I just had to come back and thank you for the Artisan Sweets link- it's my new favorite site, and I am already planning to buy several of their items for stocking stuffers...

Murray's Cheese sells little French salt caramel squares individually wrapped in foil. They are sold by the piece, located in a box at the cashier on the way out. They also sell a fig flavor by the same company. I don't recall the name.

Bierkraft in Park Slope sells Celtic Sea Salt caramels... and likely has a chocolate covered variety as well.

Whole Foods has them as well, they're called caramel fleur de sel. Individually wrapped... they also have them @ Trader Joe's and the wooden box.

There's a small candy shop in the LES on Hester called A Sweet Life that sells them by the box, but unfortunately not in individual pieces (as far as I've seen).
