Late night in SF

nyeater Oct 10, 2007 03:55 PM

Hello all. I am flying in late Friday night and will need a great, moderately priced place to eat. I don't expect to arrive at my hotel till 10:00pm. I am staying at the Grand Hyatt. I am looking for a really wonderful neighborhood place. I was thinking of tablespoon on Russian Hill but it appears to be closed. Any thoughts? Thanks.

It would be a cab ride, but NOPA is open late and is delicious.

The newly-opened SPQR is now open and serving until 11:00.

Home on Market St. in the Castro just sent out an email saying they're open until midnight every night. I wouldn't call the food great, but it's reasonably priced and it's good. It's also the kind of food I'd look for if I'd just flown in and dumped my stuff at a hotel (if I weren't hunting down some pho or congee, that is).

Both Globe (Pacific @ Battery) and Oola (Folsom between 4th and 5th) serve until 1 a.m. and have very good food.

Globe is a nice place, good choice. I haven't been there in a long time. How is it now?

Another option - Caffe Macaroni (lower Columbus towards the TransAmerica bldg), open until 11 p.m.

I second Globe! It's a short cab ride from that location. They have an excellent short cal/ital menu, with some good pizzas, a great 2 person steak, soups, cozy relaxed atmosphere. If you like a drink after a long flight, the bar is excellent for classic cocktails.

Bar Crudo is open until 11pm and less than a 5 minute walk from the Grand Hyatt. Definitely get the lobster/burrata/heirloom tomato salad - I've been twice in the past week for that dish!

Thanks! I will send an update after trying one or two (I am always hungry after a long flight) of these selections.
