Where to watch the Sox in Westboro/Shrewsbury?

Anyone have a suggestion of a good place where 2 gals can watch the game Friday night? Westboro is best, since it is halfway between our two homes. Good eats and great drinks.....I can't come up with anything better than Chili's in Shrewsbury......

  1. How about JJ Orourkes? Not the greatest on food if i recall but you can get some greasy apps and some good drinks and they are really into the sox there. Better then Chili's for sure

I was hoping for some better food options........I'm a vegetarian, so mexican (nachos/beans) is easier. Less worried about atmosphere, as long as they have decent TVs....we can generate enough enthusiasm!!

They used to have alot of fried seafood options there if you eat that.

    2. Years ago we used to go to JP's in the Westmeadow Plaza (used to be known as The German Tap)....had a pretty decent bar

      1. How could I have forgotten? The Picadilly Pub is just off Route 9 near 495 in Westboro. Decent bar, and decent food.

        1. Horseshoe Pub - Hudson
          Post Office Pub - Grafton
          Halfway Cafe - Marlborough
          Allora - Marlborough

Good one! I was trying to think of what became of Tweeds.

Good TV's at the bar. I may join you.
Willikers has decent Q. Not as many big screens.

Chef Orient has a decent size bar with TV's not sure if they show the game, you could call

Post Office Pub has great atmosphere for a bar, is nice and spacious, and has plenty of TVs such that you can sit most anywhere in the bar area and have a decent view of the game. The Bartenders are very nice too.

Thursdays and Fridays they have Karaoke too. The DJ (Roberta) is very nice too. Food is decent pub fare -- lots of selections.

I liked it because it was a walk across the street from my GFs place :)

                It's a shot down 140 from Rt 9 - at the intersections of 30 and 140 (just a bit further south than 140 & 20)

              3. Thanks for all the recs...

In our desire not to go to a typical sports bar, we ended up at the Canyon Cafe in Westboro. We got their early and snagged seats at the bar, right in front of their 2 large flat screens. Nice crowd..good energy.
Had the house top self margaritas......large shaker-full yielded 2-3 good sized delicious ones!
A nice variety basket of fresh chips showed up immediately, containing corn, flour and sweet potatoe (!) chips. Served with the house salsa that bursts w/chipotle. We shared the tableside guac, prepared by Woody, our awesome bartender. Excellent, but maybe a little too much garlic (I should have asked him not to put so much in!). I had a veggie burrito which came with their margarita slaw...very yummy and so huge I had to take 1/2 home. Coated with a nice mole...not too much cheese, which is a major flaw of most Mex-style places, IMHO. I can't remember what my DC ate, but it looked great and she loved it.

                We had a great time!

Canyon cafe has good margaritas....I've had a few there. Interesting choice of location for a Sox game though. Were they open until the end of the game? They generally have above average food and offer different menu items not found at other Metro west tex-mex places.

It was an enthusiastic group watching. Bar is smallish, but was packed. We stayed 'til the end..........and I SWEAR my opinion was not influenced by the fact that we kicked their A**ES!!!!!
