Watercress is a really neat place, open for breakfast and lunch.
Very appetizing, well prepared food, clean, quiet. Not opulent but very conducive to business talk. On Ventura, just east of Ventura Canyon

I love Le Frite, underrated place. On second thought...don't tell any more people about it!

I really like Oliva Italian Grill. It's certainly good food and charming.

Cafe Bizou would be a fine business lunch place.

La Frite is also conducive to business.

I don't think Max is currently serving lunch but it would be a good choice. Pinot Bistro, Bistro Garden and Panzenella all offer the atmosphere and ambience you are looking for.
