Yeah, I know - I should make my own lemonade from scratch. But I don't. So I currently buy Minute Maid frozen lemonade, but I don't like that it contains high fructose corn syrup. This means I can't serve lemonade to my friend who's allergic to corn - but mostly, I just hate the stuff.

Has anyone ever seen store-boughten frozen lemonade without HFCS?

Thanks,
Anne

Great tip - thanks! An online search turned up Cascadian Farms frozen lemonade concentrate, which seems to be fruit-juice-sweetened. I shall investigate further at the local Whole Foods.

Thanks,
Anne

The 'Just Juice' lemon and lime-ades are sold in the refrigerator cabinet, but they're sweetened with sugar instead of HFCS. They're pretty good too, especially if you dilute them 50-50 with water.

I use fresh lemons when I remembered to pick them up, but in a pinch I will use 1 cup of Real Lemon (the stuff in the plastic bottle) and enough simple syrup (approx 1-1/2C) to sweeten it to taste. add water and ice to make 2 quarts. You can use table sugar, but it will be harder to dissolve in cold water.

Its fast, it doesn't contain HFCS, and it tastes better than frozen concentrate.

I'm actually looking for the frozen concentrate. It's easier to store, long term (we don't drink lemonade very fast). And I use it in my pseudo margaritas, too - I just scoop some out with a spoon and dump it in the shaker.

So far, the organic Cascadian Farms concentrate looks like my best bet.

Just make sure its corn free in other ways too- a lot of lemonade or even lemon juices have citric acid made from corn added for tartness. I don't know how carefully your friend has to be with their corn allergy, so you might want to ask first.

I fought for years to not consider myself 'severely allergic & highly sensitive', but I wasn't fooling anyone but myself...if only I knew then what I know now. The only good thing is it sure cuts out all the junk food & processed food...except for those dang potato chips I found are potatoes, cottonseed oil & salt-lol
