The Farmer's Cart - Fresh Organic Produce Home Delivery Service

Has anyone tried this service (, and if so, was it as good as it sounds? It was recently featured in Los Angeles Magazine. I'd love to get more fruits and veggies in my diet, but I have a hard time making it to a farmer's market each week. And it sounds like an interesting home-cooking challenge. I'd love to hear from others who have tried it!

  1. I tried it but I found the selection pretty pedestrian -- I don't cook that often but when I do, I need more interesting selections. However it's possible that they've changed it to allow for more customization since I've tried it. Read this whole thread for other ideas too.

Thanks for the thread. I read it all the way through and came to the conclusion that people are mostly pretty underwhelmed by these services. I checked out Paradise O too (recommended below), and while I like the way it's organized, the selection seems very limited (I mean, what can you do with a head of lettuce but make a green salad? But how can you make a green salad without cucumbers and peppers?). I guess since I can walk to the grocery store, that's probably still the most sustainable solution...

    2. I haven't tried that one, but I have used Paradise O(rganic): .
The quality of the fruit and vegetables was excellent, and the price was definitely right (looks like it's cheaper than the Farmer's Cart). I like that you can choose to get weekly service, or just order once in a while. You can also choose only fruits, only vegetables, or a combo of both. And, if you just want to pick exactly what you want, you can do that, too.

The only reason I don't do it more often, is that the delivery day in my neighborhood (maybe all of LA?) is Monday, but they don't update the site with the week's menu until Sunday. If you want to know what you're getting in advance, you have to remember to look it up on Sunday and order that day.
